What product do I apply first?
With SkinCeuticals it is easy to remember, just layer by viscosity! The thinnest goes first and layer up! The only exception to this rule is if you are using a retinol product, in this case, always apply your retinol first.
What do I apply in the morning and what do I use at night?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions with every line. SkinCeuticals makes it easy for clients, you with the exception of their Vitamin C products, Retinol and Resveratrol you can use the rest of the skincare line everyday twice daily.
There are a couple of reasons you will want to use your Vitamin C, Resveratrol and Retinol once per day and either in the morning or at night:
- As the skin cannot absorb large amounts of Vitamin C, applying it morning and night will not provide any added benefit to your skin, in fact you will just be wasting your product.
- Vitamin C serums are best used in the morning as the Vitamin C helps protect your skin against environmental aggressors.
- Retinol serums make your skin sun sensitive so for this reason, with any retinol it is is best applied only at night time.
- The Resveratrol serum is best used at night time only as sunlight will breakdown the resveratrol molecule which will decrease its efficacy for your skin.
My Vitamin C Serum is Changing Colour, Help!
Much like an apple goes brown up on cutting, your Vitamin C serum will change colour upon opening, this is totally normal and does not affect the efficacy of the product. The serum if used correctly should last only 3 months, the shelf life of the SkinCeutical Vitamin C serums upon opening is 6 months.
How Much Product Should I be Using?
- Cleanser - water bottle cap
- Serum- coffee bean about 4-5 drops
- Eye - grain of rice and then press between the pads of 2 fingers and apply to each eye
- Face Mask- loonie
- Sunscreen- quarter
Does the SkinCeuticals Vitamin C Serums Contain Colours or Preservatives?
Unlike other lines, SkinCeuticals uses Ferulic Acid to stabilize its Vitamin C from oxidizing, and do not use any dyes, colours, perfumes or other preservatives. This is why many find the scent of one of their most popular serums, CE Ferulic to smell like hot dogs!
