Benefits of Brow Lift
The brow area of our face is an area that does a lot of heavy lifting, literally, as our brow is responsible for expressing and communicating the majority of our emotions. The muscles in the brow, apart from expression, also help lift the eyebrow area to keep the eyes looking open and alert.
Between aging and gravity, our brow area tends to descend over time, which may contribute to an overall tired or downtrodden look. While there are injectable treatments that can help provide a slight lift to the brow, when excess skin or heavy drooping features are the leading issue, Brow Lift Surgery is an ideal solution.
5 key benefits of Brow Lift Surgery:
- Defines a more attractive arched brow shape
- Creates a more refreshed appearance in the upper third of the face
- Makes the eyes look more open and alert
- Removes excess upper eyelid skin and forehead skin
- Results are long lasting

Surgery Techniques
Types of Brow Lift Techniques
A brow lift repositions brows to a natural, attractive-looking position, smoothes forehead wrinkles, and shapes the brow arch. Dr. Buonassisi is highly skilled in performing a wide variety of brow lift techniques:
Temporal Brow Lift
Best for those whose medial (mid) brow is in a good position and the lateral (outer third) brow is flat or downward-sloping. The procedure places incisions in the hairline above the lateral brow, and then lifts these corners of the brow.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
For patients looking for a longer-lasting, natural-looking and more global result; the Endoscopic Brow Lift provides a more holistic lift of a much larger area, rejuvenating the eyes, brow pad, forehead, and even lifting some of the upper cheek.
As opposed to a skin lift, the Endoscopic Brow Lift is made possible with the surgical elevation of the multiple structures under the skin, creating a more natural-looking rejuvenated result that will slow the signs of aging in the upper face for years to come. Though a surgical procedure, the endoscopic brow lift is considered a minimally invasive and scarless approach to the surgical brow lift and yields minimal downtime with a quick recovery.
Direct Incision Brow Lift
Typically for patients who have excess or sagging skin, causing a heavy brow. Incisions are placed in the natural wrinkles or creases directly above the brow to remove excess skin and lift the brow.
Non Surgical Brow Lift
The brows can also be slightly elevated with non-surgical brow lift treatments. It can be a great option for patients who want to achieve a subtle lift without undergoing surgery.
Neuromodulator Injectable Brow Lift essentially relaxes the muscles that are pulling the brow down and allow it to rest in a slightly higher position. Dermal Fillers are a temporary, non-invasive procedure that can be used to augment the temple area to give a boost to the lateral brow.

The knowledge behind the art of injectables is critical to getting a great look. The whole clinic has always shown me extraordinary service and I recommend their services with my whole heart.
Obviously, it seems like there are a lot of choices in the Vancouver area for cosmetic procedures, but I settled on 8 West quickly and never regretted a thing.
Really great experience. Helped me feel more revived and youthful. Really wish I would had done it sooner. Not sure why I waited. It is really worth it. Very down to earth and welcoming staff and professionals
I had a number of procedures (facelift, eye lids, brow lift) performed on me by Dr Buonassisi and cannot express enough praise regarding him and the results that I experienced. I have unlimited confidence in him as a cosmetic surgeon and absolutely no regrets.
My experience was all positive at 8 West - the staff were all professional, proficient and very caring. I had an upper eye bleph and eyebrow lift and Dr B did a wonderful job. I'm very happy with the results.
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I a candidate for brow lift surgery?
Patients who may be excellent candidates for brow lift surgery will most likely have these concerns as they age or as a result of hereditary factors:
- Heavy brows
- Sagging skin and brows that will benefit from removing excess skin
- Tired, aging eyes
- Hooded or sagging eyelids
- A genetically predisposed low-set brow
How is brow lift surgery performed?
Brow lift surgery takes an average of 1-2 hours. Most brow lift surgeries are performed by carefully and strategically removing sections of the skin anywhere between the upper brow area and into the hairline above the forehead, depending on the amount of lift required. Dr. Buonassisi will then strategically place stitches to achieve the lifting action of the surgery, ensuring the placement of these is in natural creases in the forehead or within the hair of the upper brow or the hairline to ensure any scarring is tactfully hidden.
For the endoscopic brow lift approach, Dr. Buonassisi makes a small incision—approximately 2 cm long—in the scalp, behind the hairline. He uses an endoscope (a surgical camera) and special tools to access the brow structures beneath the skin, allowing him to mobilize the various structural layers in the forehead to create a deeper lift across a larger area that isn’t just a skin lift. The mobilized layers are strategically repositioned to create the ideal elevation of the brow, and are then secured with sutures higher up in the scalp with no trimming of skin required. The incision is closed with very fine stitches.
How long does it take to recover from brow lift surgery?
Most patients take at least 1 week off of work to recover from their brow lift. Stitches are removed approximately 1 week after surgery. You’ll need to take 3 to 4 weeks off from vigorous exercise and activities to allow for proper healing and to minimize swelling. You’ll see a significant change right after surgery, but it takes a couple of weeks for the brows to settle into their natural position. How long does a brow lift last? A brow lift can last for years, even up to a decade, but over time, the face and skin will still continue to age as normal.
What are the types of brow lift surgery techniques?
A brow lift repositions brows to a natural, attractive-looking position, smoothes forehead wrinkles, and shapes the brow arch. Dr. Buonassisi is highly skilled in performing several types of brow lifts:
TEMPORAL BROW LIFT
Best for those whose medial (mid) brow is in a good position and the lateral (outer third) brow is flat or downward-sloping. The procedure places incisions in the hairline above the lateral brow, and then lifts these corners of the brow.
DIRECT INCISION BROW LIFT
Typically for patients who have excess or sagging skin, causing a heavy brow. Incisions are placed in the natural wrinkles or creases directly above the brow to remove excess skin and lift the brow.
The endoscopic brow fift is made possible with the surgical elevation of the multiple structures under the skin, creating a more natural-looking rejuvenated result that will slow the signs of aging in the upper face for years to come. Though a surgical procedure, the endoscopic brow lift is considered a minimally invasive and scarless approach to the surgical brow lift and yields minimal downtime with a quick recovery.
NON-SURGICAL BROW LIFT
The brows can also be slightly elevated with non-surgical brow lift treatments. It can be a great option for patients who want to achieve a subtle lift without undergoing surgery.
A neuromodulator injectable brow lift essentially relaxes the muscles that are pulling the brow down and allow it to rest in a slightly higher position. Dermal Fillers are a temporary, non-invasive procedure that can be used to augment the temple area to give a boost to the lateral brow.

What is brow lift surgery?
Brow lift surgery, also known as a forehead lift, is a cosmetic procedure designed to raise the eyebrows and smooth out forehead wrinkles. It helps reduce sagging brows, fine lines, and furrows, giving the face a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
What are the different types of brow lifts?
There are several techniques for brow lift surgery, including:
- Traditional Brow Lift: Involves an incision along the hairline to lift the brows and smooth the forehead.
- Endoscopic Brow Lift: Smaller incisions are made, and a camera is used to lift the brow muscles and tissues.
- Temporal Brow Lift: Focuses on lifting the outer part of the eyebrows.
Your surgeon will recommend the best technique based on your needs and anatomy.
Will I have visible scars after a brow lift?
Scarring is typically minimal and well-concealed in the hairline or natural folds of the skin. Endoscopic techniques, which involve smaller incisions, often result in less visible scarring. Over time, scars tend to fade, becoming almost invisible to the naked eye.
Can I combine brow lift surgery with other procedures?
Yes, many patients choose to combine brow lift surgery with other procedures such as eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), facelift, or Botox injections to achieve comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Your facial plastic surgeon can help create a customized treatment plan.
